With the help of ElectricAid funding and supported by Imani training on food security and value addition, many groups affiliated to Imani have now been empowered to raise the living standards of their families.
This year, the KOKA Achievers Group have proved that through working hard they have achieved a heavy harvest of groundnuts. During the harvesting the women were very happy and had big smiles on their faces, knowing that the yield is better than last year's. They will dry them and grind into peanut butter that sells at a higher price, meaning additional income. This income will enable them to meet their financial needs and also to have a taste of peanut butter that they can rarely afford. The KOKA Achievers will also keep some of the nuts as seeds for individual members for another season of planting, thereby ensuring that each member is able to do significant groundnut planting, utilising the potential of their area.
